We here at Popcorn, Soda, and Goobers admittedly can’t get to everything in moviedom. Actually, we don’t intend to. There are enough blogs and sites out there that cover movie news. Our goal is just to provide a little commentary here and there and hopefully provide an entertaining experience while we’re at it. So, in response to those that might be looking for more, here are a few posts from fellow bloggers that we found particularly interesting this week.
- The most well publicized opening this week is probably “Beowulf,” a movie that neither Ryan nor I have any intention of seeing. (Chalk it up to a bad experience during high school English class.) But, for those of you who are interested, Newman’s Own Movie Corner posted a review which seems to confirms out thoughts. On the flip side, Real Honest Film is having a Beowulf field day this week.
- Speaking of Real Honest Film, it featured a “Top Ten Veteran’s Day Movie Picks - From a Veteran” post this week that’s really worth a gander.
- For a more recent war flick, Rescue Dawn
was released on DVD this Friday. It’s Werner Herzog’s fictional adaptation of his chilling documentary, Little Dieter Needs to Fly
. Despite a poor box office performance, both have 90+ ratings on Rotten Tomatoes (1, 2)!
- On a completely tangential note, ever wonder what happened to the cast of “Gilmore Girls“? Check out this post by Reel Fanatic, “Gilmore Girls: Where are they now?“.
- And, finally in a bit of self promotion, check out our movie meme, Flick4Friday. It’s really easy to participate! Either respond by comment or, even better, write a post on your blog in response and leave a link or trackback at Flick4Friday. We’d love to motivate the movie blogosphere to sound off on great movies as a whole! To make things easier, we’ve even started a Flick4Friday Blog Carnival if that’s your preferred method of participation.
