Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (imdb)

Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to check out a screening for the newest and crudest comedy featuring our favorite Korean and Indian duo. Harold and Kumar 2 or more specifically, Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, continues right off from the ending of the first excellent adventure and ups the ante for hilarity, ridiculousness, and offensive gross-out humor.
Let me be to the point here: if you liked the first one and aren’t easily offended, you’ll love Harold and Kumar 2. If you found the first adventure to be tiresome, childish and highly offensive, stay far far away from this movie. This time around, Harold and Kumar get into more outlandish situations that naturally lend themselves to dick and fart jokes. In a nutshell, the story starts off as Harold and Kumar decide to go to Amsterdam to chase Harold’s love interest Maria. They make their way to the airport, and Kumar smuggles some weed and a secret bong through security and onto the plane. Of course, his shenanigans are rewarded with other passengers mistaking the “bong” with a “bomb,” landing two air marshals on him and Harold. After being imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, the two protagonists make a lucky escape and become fugitives trying to clear their names.
The bulk of the funny in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay comes from the racism acts pulled by Rob Corddry. The stereotyping is laid on thick and without restraint. Additionally, as Harold and Kumar run from the officials, they bump into rednecks and Neil Patrick Harris making for more hard laughs.
Harold and Kumar 2 is a hilarious movie that should be well received by fans of the original. The second movie is basically an extension of the first taken to highly offensive and vulgar extremes. While I can’t say everyone will like this movie, it sure has its laughs and good lines. There are spoonfuls of dick and fart jokes as well as quick-witted dialogue in this installment. If you laughed when they went to White Castle, run with them away from Guantanamo Bay and have a fun ride.
