Apologies for the unexplained disappearance from this blog. Probably should have made an announcement. Ryan and I went flew off to Southeast Asia for a little vacation the last few weeks and weren’t quite able to blog regularly. Oops! But, we’ve returned and hopefully will be getting back in the swing of things soon. We’re also back with a little travel tip/review for movie loving jet setters out there -
Cathay Pacific!

StudioCX, the airline’s inflight entertainment for their international flights to Hong Kong is absolutely superb. You get your own screen and a remote control which doubles as a game controller. More importantly, even in economy class, there’s something like 30 or so movies to choose from. Most interestingly, there are a bunch of asian language films that you probably wouldn’t get to see in the US. The US releases aren’t super new (think second run theater/DVD releases) but offer up a good amount of movies you probably were curious about but didn’t quite want to pay $12 for. If you fly in March, they supposedly even offer an “Oscar Preview” with a highlight being access to all the nominees for Best Picture. For those who get bored of the StudioCX system or have their own personal DVD players, the seats also come with a 3 prong plug, so you can plug in and watch to your heart’s content.
Oh yea, one final tip. Plan your trip to straddle a month. For example, leave May 27th and come back June 12th. That way, you get a whole new lineup of movies for the ride home. And, don’t forget the free ice cream!
