My favorite child star? So I like Shia LaBeouf’s new found fame, and his roots from the Disney channel have served him well as he enters into the real Hollywood. However, LaBeouf is of a different generation (he’s younger than I am) and I can’t really say I have strong memories of his child acting career. On the other hand, one movie involving numerous child stars continues to hold a place on my favorite list - The Goonies. Yes, it’s the one with Corey Feldman and that Asian kid from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. But this is dedicated to Sean “Samwise Gamgee” Astin.

Sean Astin stars as Mikey and leads the pack of Goonies. Boy he’s come a long way - now he probably milks his Samwise fame from those Lord of the Rings movies or maybe his appearance on 24. Once though, he was a little boy, a bit less chubby with asthma, searching for pirate treasure. The Goonies is such a lovable movie and so is little Astin. Also, be sure to see a more teenage Astin in Encino Man…
